We're hear to support your nursing journey to Australia
AustPhil Training Solutions provides expert-led, structured OSCE training and OBA guidance
to help internationally qualified nurses succeed with confidence.
AustPhil Training Solutions is an OSCE training provider for internationally qualified nurses preparing for Australia. We focus on practical preparation, guidance, and confidence-building for candidates who want structured support before their exam.
The Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) is the clinical or behavioural component of the OBA pathway. It is designed to assess whether a candidate can demonstrate graduate-level nursing or midwifery knowledge, skills, and competence in practice.
The OBA, or Outcomes-Based Assessment, is the assessment pathway used for some internationally qualified nurses and midwives whose qualifications are considered relevant but not substantially equivalent to an Australian approved qualification. For Stream B candidates, it includes both a cognitive and a behavioural assessment.
No. Not every internationally qualified nurse will follow the same route. After Self-check, some applicants are directed to Stream A, some to Stream B, and since April 2025 there is also a streamlined registration pathway for some internationally qualified registered nurses who meet specific requirements.
You first need to complete the NMBA/Ahpra Self-check. Based on the qualification information you enter, you will be advised of the likely steps in your pathway, including whether you may be assigned to Stream A or Stream B.
The Self-check is the first step for internationally qualified nurses or midwives who want registration in Australia. You enter your qualification details, and the system uses that information to determine the likely next steps in your assessment process.
Our program is designed for:
internationally qualified nurses aiming to work in Australia
OSCE takers preparing for their exam
OSCE retakers who want a stronger, more targeted approach
candidates who need help understanding where they are in the OBA pathway
nurses who want practical coaching from AU RN trainers
No. The official guidance says the Self-check cannot be completed by a third party or agent on your behalf.
For Stream B, candidates move through additional assessment stages. Official NMBA information says Stream B candidates need to complete the required steps such as Orientation Part 1, and at the Portfolio stage Ahpra checks the information given during Self-check and asks for identification and qualification documents.
Yes. The OBA model includes both a cognitive and a behavioural component, and the official guidance states that the cognitive assessment must be passed before the behavioural component is attempted.
For registered nurse candidates in the OBA pathway, the official RN exam information refers to the NCLEX-RN as part of the process, including an NCLEX-RN score transfer process authorised by Ahpra for candidates progressing through the pathway.
Yes. Official NMBA guidance says that if a qualification is not available to select in Self-check, the applicant can indicate that it cannot be found, and Ahpra can assess it later in the process.
Passing the required assessment stages makes a candidate eligible to apply for registration, but applicants still need to meet the relevant registration requirements and complete the registration process.
Yes. Registration pathways and standards can change, including the introduction of the new streamlined pathway for some internationally qualified registered nurses in 2025. Candidates should always check current NMBA/Ahpra information.
No. AustPhil Training Solutions is an independent training provider. We help candidates prepare, but we do not make registration decisions and we do not replace official NMBA/Ahpra advice.
Yes. We support both. First-time takers often need structure, exam familiarity, and clinical practice. Retakers usually need a more focused strategy, stronger feedback, and help identifying what may have gone wrong the first time.
Our strengths include:
5-day intensive training
unlimited online access
free OBA assistance
free hospital charts
small class size
training led by AU RN instructors, many of whom are OSCE passers themselves
extended consultation and support after training
Our intensive face-to-face component is 5 days, designed to keep the training focused, practical, and efficient.
Yes. We provide unlimited online access, so students can continue reviewing and reinforcing what they learned during the intensive training.
Yes. We provide extended consultation and support after training, and we also help guide students before enrolment so they can better understand whether the program suits their current stage.
Yes. We provide free OBA assistance as part of our support approach. This is meant to help candidates better understand the process and what step they may need to focus on next. For final regulatory decisions, candidates should still refer to NMBA/Ahpra.
Our instructors are Australian Registered Nurses, and many are also OSCE passers, which means students learn from people who understand both the Australian clinical context and the exam journey.
Our smaller cohort model helps us give more individual attention, more targeted feedback, and more chances for students to ask questions and refine their performance.
Yes. We provide free hospital charts and other learning resources to help students become more familiar with documentation, clinical thinking, and exam-style expectations.
Yes. Many candidates contact us while they are still clarifying their pathway. We can help you understand your current stage and point you in the right direction for preparation.
Overseas-based nurses can absolutely enquire and prepare with us. Whether you join online first or plan for face-to-face training later, the best option depends on your exam stage, location, and timeline.
No. AustPhil Training Solutions is not a migration or visa service. We focus on training and preparation for the nursing registration exam journey.
We are based in Sydney, Australia, and support internationally qualified nurses who are preparing for the Australian OSCE pathway.
Our training is a strong fit if you:
need practical OSCE preparation
want coaching from AU RN trainers
prefer a smaller class environment
want both intensive training and online access
need extra support as a retaker or as someone feeling lost in the process
The best first step is to message us or book a consultation so we can understand your current stage, answer your questions, and recommend the best next step for you.
