The OBA, or Outcomes-Based Assessment, is the assessment pathway used for some internationally qualified nurses and midwives whose qualifications are considered relevant but not substantially equivalent to an Australian approved qualification. For Stream B candidates, it includes both a cognitive and a behavioural assessment.
The Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) is the clinical or behavioural component of the OBA pathway. It is designed to assess whether a candidate can demonstrate graduate-level nursing or midwifery knowledge, skills, and competence in practice.
